The Medium New Rules on Followers

I’ve stumbled on a crack in the new sidewalk

As a writer on Medium, I don’t post often therefore I don’t make much money. However, I don’t want to lose out when I do. This new payment model that penalizes for low follower numbers makes me say:

Ouch!

I have posts done through my name and some through my publication “The Chair Pear”.
I have 114 followers. The Chair Pear only has 8 followers but more reads than the posts under my name. Come the first of the year, what would happen to my publication with under 100 followers? I raised this question to Medium support:

Because of the changes coming with the Partnership Program, would it be best to move my publication posts just under my name? I don’t want to lose out because of the low number of followers in the publication. Mostly, I notice people follow people; they don’t follow publications, so I am questioning if even having a publication is appropriate anymore.
I have read nothing about publications, so I was wondering if anything is planned in this area?
